King Kendrick returns!? As it emerged from an insta-live session, a new creative sign of life from Kendrick Lamar might not be too far away in the future. TDE boss Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith announced a few days ago with the promising comment “Stay patient king Kendrick will return soon” on his Instagram account that Kendrick is apparently about to return into the limelight.
Did anyone not named Beyonce release better, more meaningful back-to-back albums last decade than Kendrick Lamar? Are you interested to know that I hear from several friends that recording on the new album may finally be done? And that he’s pulling in more rock sounds this time?

In the last months there had been some rumours about a new album. Thundercat, for example, can be quoted from an interview in March, saying that K.Dot was already “working a little” on new material. The jazz bassist had already been involved in Kenny’s genre classic “To Pimp A Butterfly” in 2015, for which he and Lamar had even won a Grammy.
There has also been speculation about the musical direction of a possible new Kendrick release. In January, Bill Werde from Billboard Magazine, among others, had leaked on Twitter that Kendrick was experimenting with rock influences and was about to finish a new LP.

Kendrick himself had recently made an appearance by founding the company pgLang, apparently a kind of media service provider with a focus on music, film, television, art, books and podcasts. Kendrick’s last album “DAMN.” was released in 2017.
